Edificatory and Educational Event:

I. We held the “2019 Spring Festival Face to Face Visit Event” for the inmates to relieve themselves of the emotions of missing their family and keep benign interaction between them and their family members These will be beneficial for the inmates to return to society successfully in the future.

II. To improve the effectiveness of therapy for addiction, the Prison cooperated with the Formosa Plastics Group and the Wang Jhan-Yang Charitable Trust Fund to hold the Phase 3 course, “Family Day Event”, of the “Sun Program”. The main purpose of the course was for inmates to carry out the concepts learned in the “Family Support Course” in the event. This would be the first step to fix the relationships with their family. The inmate’s experience sharing, ocarina performance, and interaction between the inmates and family members would enforce the connection of the family support system. We hoped these would give the inmate a motivation to quit the drug.

III. We held the “2019 Mother’s Day Face to Face Visit Event” for the inmates to strengthen their families’ support. The inmates took advantage of the reunion with their families to read out what they felt thankful for from their mothers. They gave carnations to their mothers by themselves to thank their families for traveling so far to come to the Prison for support. We wanted the share the moments during the visit event in no time. Therefore, the Prison broke tradition. We used the communicating app, LINE, to send photos of the inmates and their family members to the inmate’s family members after the event. This gave them access to download and save the photos immediately. The family members can look at photos on their mobiles to think about the inmates. This way, love could spread on the cloud and the happiness would go on forever.

IV. The Prison held the “Letter for Mother - Read for Love” event before Mother’s Day to strengthen the inmate’s family support. We invited the inmates’ family members to come over to the Prison to participate in the cultural happiness activity for the first time. We hoped the inmates could take advantage of the holiday time to show their gratitude for their mothers and family members and tell them how much they miss them in the event. The event would help the inmates maintain their relationship and communication with their families and increase the success rate for them to return to society.

V. We heard the Auld Lang Syne and the phoenix flower bloomed. The Shu De High School of the Prison held the 33rd joint graduation ceremony of the junior and senior high schools in June, 2019. We invited over 50 people, including principals of the schools around and the family members of the graduates, to participated in the ceremony. The graduates sang songs, shared their experiences and wrote and directed a clip, “100 marks story”, to thank the teachers and family members.
